The remote work revolution has fundamentally altered the geography of European tech talent. Where once London, Paris, and Berlin dominated hiring, startups are now building distributed teams spanning Lisbon, Warsaw, Bucharest, and Athens.
Eastern and Southern Europe have emerged as particularly attractive talent pools, offering deep technical expertise at significantly lower cost of living than Western capitals. Portugal's digital nomad visa and Estonia's e-Residency program have made cross-border hiring easier than ever.
The shift is also changing startup culture. Fully remote or hybrid companies now outnumber co-located teams in many sectors, forcing founders to rethink everything from onboarding to equity compensation across borders.
